I’m a total marriage geek. I admit it.
I love reading marriage books. I love learning the tips and tricks and mindsets that help to make a marriage successful.
The first thing we did after getting together as a couple was take a small group at a local church called ‘God’s Plan for Your Marriage’. Within 6 months of getting married, we were trained Marriage Coaches.
Why?
Why the huge focus on marriage?
Because I was TERRIBLE at relationships.
No, seriously. The first 35 years of my life did not build a good track record for successful relationships. In fact, it got so bad that I went into ‘the relationship desert’ and declared that I would never have another one because it was so clear to me that I was really, really bad at love.
So, when I got together with the big, yummy man my mission was to figure out how ‘this whole relationship thing’ worked, once and for all, so it wouldn’t end up like all my previous ones: with me alone and feeling very much, ‘not worth it’. Ugh.
We’ve been together for over a decade now, and it is, to me, a miracle. But it wasn’t just divine intervention that has kept us together – though you’ve gotta know that there were heaping does of that, as well. 🙂
