The good news is this: If you can figure it out, your marriage will become incredibly strong and resilient and downright epic.

Idea 1: Most marriages can’t handle working together

Most spouses can’t make it work because it exacerbates existing marriage issues + most marriages just aren’t strong enough to hold it.

You have to become a couple who CAN work together and that means open communication and a commitment to working through your stuff.

Idea 2: You need a vision, boundaries, and roles for a husband + wife working together to work

In any business, but especially when a husband + wife are working together, there have to be clearly defined roles + expectations.

You also have to have an agreed upon plan for what you want the business to look like and grow like over the short- and long-term. As a team, you must regularly re-visit the vision and the plan.

This is a deal-breaker.

Idea 3: Be careful with the power dynamics between husband + wife

In every marriage, there are unbalanced power dynamics. Nothing is ever perfect.

And, when you go into business together, those imbalances magnify. Over time, they can create bitterness and resentment.

Make sure that if you’re working together, you are working as equals with equally important roles and an equal say in the direction of the business.
